Rainbow Folk Cardigan Knitting Pattern

£4.20

The Rainbow Folk Cardigan is a really fun pattern to knit and it’s so cozy.

Full instructions are given on how to make the Cardigan the perfect length. You may want it long or you could make it cropped! It’s the perfect everyday wear Cardigan.

It is knitted in one piece until you separate the back from the two front panels. You then proceed to knit the right front, then the left front, the back, then the sleeves are added at the end. You can go as wild as you like with colours or as subtle as you wish.

It is knitted with no ribbing. The hem will curl slightly at the bottom and along the edge of the cardigan. This is intentional and adds to the relaxed effect. If you wish you could add a zipper or toggle closure to the cardigan.

Sizing

S, M, L, XL, XXL, XXXL

Yarn

This pattern uses 2 strands of yarn held together. 1 strand of DK and 1 strand of Worsted/ Aran weight yarn.

Here are the approximate amounts of each;

600 (650, 700, 750, 800, 850) g

In the pictures I have used a mix of mainly Malabrigo Worsted and Rios and have used 1 strand of DK from my stash. It is designed to use up your scrap yarn too so go wild!

Here are some of my favourite yarns;

Worsted/ Aran

Malabrigo - worsted

Malabrigo - washted

Malabriago - Rios

Brooklyn Tweed - Shelter

DK

Paintbox DK is great if you want a cheaper yarn to mix through for some amazing colour changes.

Retrosaria Brusca is also a lovely DK.

Needle size

6mm straight needles and 120cm circular needles.

Straight needles are used for the sleeves and the top of the cardigan.

Although you are using circular needles, it is not knitted in the round.

Tension

13sts, 15rows in SS = 10cm please check and adjust needle size accordingly.

Abbreviations

SS stocking stitch (Knit one row, purl one row)

K knit

P purl

Tog together

YO yarn over

Measurments (approximate)

The Rainbow Folk Cardigan is designed to be slouchy and a little oversized.

I would recommend knitting the size you would usually buy in regular clothing. If you would like a more fitted look then size down.

S (M, L, XL, XXL, XXL)

Chest 120 (125, 130, 135, 140, 145) cm (approximate)
