The Rainbow Folk Sweater is a free spirited, oversized knit with a little woodland wanderer energy and plenty of old school hippie magic.
One strand of DK is held together with one strand of Aran or worsted yarn, allowing favourite skeins, forgotten scraps and unexpected colours to mingle as you knit. Change one strand at a time for soft, shifting blends or change both together to create brighter stripes. No two Rainbow Folk Sweaters will ever look quite the same.
The sweater has a relaxed split neckline, dropped shoulders and wonderfully generous sleeves. Its length is completely adjustable, so you can make a shorter everyday sweater or let it grow into a long, slouchy rainbow tunic. An optional button band is included if you would like to close the neckline.
The front, back and sleeves are knitted flat and sewn together, making this suitable for a confident beginner. There is also an optional modification for knitting the lower body in the round.
Sizes S to XXXXL are included, with finished chest measurements from 120 to 150 cm. This is an intentionally oversized design, so choose your size according to how room you want!
You will need 6 mm knitting needles and approximately 600 (650, 700, 750, 800, 850, 900) g of both DK and Aran or worsted yarn. The photographed sweater was made mainly with Malabrigo Worsted and Malabrigo Rios, combined with DK scraps.
Tension is 13 stitches and 15 rows to 10 cm in stocking stitch.
